Hi, I’m Kylie!
I’m currently working remotely as a Product Designer at SailPoint, an identity security cloud platform.
My design journey started long before college. I’ve been a problem solver, passionate creative, and story teller since before I can even remember. From a young age, I created videos, tried to learn new instruments, drew pictures, painted, and more. Being creative allows me to express myself and is how I naturally see the world. I knew design was something I was truly passionate about and wanted to pursue.
Professional Background and Experience
I graduated from Minnesota State University Mankato in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Photography and Marketing. During college, I had two internships. One as a Graphic Design Intern at Taylor Corporation and one as a Multimedia Intern at Fun.com.
After college, I had my first full time design job as a Web and Graphic Design Specialist at Minnesota Interactive, Inc. I then moved to Modus, a Bigtincan company, where I was a User Experience and User Interface Designer and was promoted to the Head of User Experience and Creative Services at Modus, a Bigtincan Company.
At Modus, I was a part of the Culture and Equality Committee, the Fun Committee, the Employee Training and Development Committee, the Employee Communications Committee, and a few of the Tiger Teams (voluntary teams that took initiative and were involved with the initial discussions of new, big projects).
Personal Hobbies
Outside of working full-time, I love to practice photography, videography, and graphic design. In my free time, I love to take my golden retriever Echo on walks, enjoy live music, go to the gym, meditate, eat new foods, hike, try new restaurants, cook new meals, and spend quality time with family and friends.
Things in Design that I’m Passionate About
Creating and maintaining positive connections, enhancing usability, and optimizing ease of use for all users across all devices.
Continuously learning different approaches to determine and understand problems, address challenges, and define those challenges before creating effective solutions.
Making connections - I admire the little things and can see the bigger picture. I strive to create things people can feel and connect with. I surround myself with people, hobbies, and activities that push me to grow, learn, and become a better person every day.
My strengths - Visual communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving to create one-of-a-kind solutions. I love to ask questions and dig deeper.
Starting fresh and improving on current designs - Every day is a new chance to make the world a better place and I feel that within design too. I love reading up on new trends, research, and tools that can be utilized with what I do.
The Design processes - Learning about empathy, research, ideation, prototyping, design systems, and more.
I believe every person is unique - Every person learns and perceives the world in a different way, and that’s why designing for every user is so important. I continue to learn more about accessibility in every design to make sure I can create designs that are usable and inclusive for all.
